Ok... So we are soooo far behind on this blog. My big wish is to have a website that is organized & easy to go through and then have this blog for day to day pictures of our doggie family. We are ALWAYS taking pictures of the Doxies and it would be great to be able to post them in an organized format seperate from where we list the puppies. Yes... I can be an organized freak sometimes.... ha ha. So.. on to the GREAT news!!!!!! Let's start in chronological order here: We decided to keep our little Brindle Dapple Girl!! Her name is Bryn and I will post pictures very soon. With this blog... everything has to be posted in chronological order. So, pics of Bryn have to be posted first & THEN pics of the new puupies!! Yep... you read correct... NEW PUPPIES!!!!!!! Bella, the QUEEN of the house (Isabella dapple), and Mr Merlin, wanna be King of the House, (Blue solid) have had a gorgeous litter of puppies on August 21. She had them without me (Alexi) around... long story... but thank goodness for photo text messages!! We have 2 Isabella Dapple girls, one Blue solid boy (Looks like his Daddy!!), and a Blue dapple boy. All are very heathly & are a joy to have in the house. They are now able to see and are loving to play. Pictures will be posted soon........ Tue, 27 Feb 2007 21:44:11 +0000 A BRINDLE DAPPLE! After talking to a few breeders, this is the final conclusion. I had one breeder direct me to her website Click Here This shows an example of another brindle dapple. Yes, this is a very rare color combination. So rare that most people have never seen or heard of such a color in a Dachshund. We definitely thought it was not possible. So, Henna might have had only one pup, but she sure did make sure it was a spectacular pup! As of this afternoon, mom & baby have been transfered into a whelping box as baby can now inchworm her way to the other side of the room. :-) We are still on the lookout for the perfect name for our precious little girl. As much as I am sure we will be attached to her (heck, I already am), she will be available for adoption. We are still waiting to see if she will be longhair. It's a girl!
So, the wait has finally ended. After a few nights of me not getting any sleep because Henna was in pre-term labor. I didn't know it was pre-term... I thought it was the real thing and kept making her lay with me so I could feel her tummy. No contractions.... ok.. good...we can go back to sleep until the next bout of burrowing begins. :-) Saturday we had a wedding to do with the carriage. It was going to require Kim driving behind me as it wasn't in the best areas of town. Well, Little Miss Henna decided that her baby was far more important than a wedding... which she's right. :-) But... still have to pay the bills. :-) So, as I'm getting ready, Kim is with Henna as Henna is going through labor. I was there to see the pup being born... YEAH! And then had to leave shortly after. We assumed there was at least one more pup on the way, so Kim began to wait with Henna for the next set of contractions. They never came... there was just one puppy! :-) Henna did not have an easy birth. She stole the drama queen award from Bella. I really can't say much as I've never had a child... and after watching these girls & the horses, I remember why I don't have kids. :-) Henna did great & the little girl is GORGEOUS... just like her mom & dad! Skylar stamped his white chest on this little girl... and if we're lucky, maybe she'll have her daddy's blue eyes too. She is beautiful like her mom. She's a dapple... but as we play with color genetics in the Doxie world here... we're not sure on her main coat coloring. I guess time will tell. Is she a dark chocolate dapple? Is she a brindle dapple? Not a brindle dapple as we all don't think you can have both a brindle & a dapple. Who knows... We shall wait and see for the color to surprise us. We will also wait & see if she will be a longhair. Both parents are, so chances are pretty high, but the lovely world of science is never 100%. If it was... I certainally would be out of a job.. ha ha :-) So... I will now quit talking and show the beautiful baby.
Does it get much cuter than a new puppy??? :-) And Daisy is still going crazy about coming in the room to say Hi and see what's going on. Sebastian whinned the entire time under the door as Daisy tried to dig her way under the door.
